Jiang Zhonggui is a National Engineering Survey and Design Master, Professor-Level Senior Engineer, Licensed Civil Engineer, First-Class Licensed Constructor, and Chongqing Design Master, honored as a Chongqing Model Worker. He serves as a professor (part-time) at Southwest Jiaotong University and Chongqing Jiaotong University in China, a Comprehensive Transportation Planning Consultant in Chongqing, the Vice President of the Chongqing Association of Engineering Consultants, and the Vice Chairman of the Road and Bridge Committee of the Chongqing Highway & Transportation Society.
With 40 years of professional experience, he has primarily focused on urban road and bridge transportation design and is a pioneering leader in comprehensive transportation innovation for mountainous cities. He has led the design of more than 100 major projects, including bridges across the Yangtze River, long-span tunnels, and comprehensive transportation hubs. He has been awarded the Eugene C. Figg Jr. Medal twice at the International Bridge Conference in the United States, the Outstanding Design Contribution Award once by the California Engineering Survey and Design Association in the United States, the Silver Award and Bronze Award for National Excellent Engineering Design once, first prizes three times and second prize once for the National Excellent Engineering Design Industry Awards, first prize for Tianjin Excellent Design once, and first prizes and third prizes for Chongqing Excellent Engineering Design twice. He has authored the monograph Innovative Practice of Transportation Design in Mountainous Cities, holds 4 patents, and has published 10 academic papers.
He served as chief editor of the Chongqing local standard “Specifications for Planning and Design of Road Routes in Mountainous Cities”, and participated in compiling the Chongqing local standard “Bridge Safety Assessment Regulations” and the national standard “Code for Design of Urban Rail Transit Bridge. He has led and participated in over 10 research projects, including the Study on Locations and Passages of 10 Cross-River Bridges during Chongqing's 12th Five-Year Plan and research on resin ballast beds for rail transit bridges.
